Alterman, Inc. Proves It Is “Wired For Excellence” With 2011 AGC Safe Specialty Contractor Of The Year Award

For the fourth consecutive year, Alterman, Inc. has been presented the Safe Specialty Contractor of the year award by the San Antonio Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).

The AGC award recognizes contractors and their commitment to safe work practices through management commitment and employee involvement. The San Antonio Chapter of AGC has 435 member firms including general contractors, specialty contractors, service providers and suppliers. 

“We know that our commitment to safety not only determines our physical well being today, but also fuels Alterman’s reputation, our success and —as a result—the success of our projects,” said Guy Katz, director of safety. “We are personally invested in safety every day.”

Alterman participates in the national AGC Safety Training Program and is one of the oldest partners in the country with the Safety and Health Agreement Regarding Enforcement (SHARE) program sponsored by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Alterman’s incident rates have been well below the national average for the past three years, which is one of the reasons the company has won the Safe Specialty Contractor of the Year Award four times in a row. The award is based on a safety rate performance determined by OSHA standards as well as company safety policies and how they are enforced in the San Antonio construction industry.
