ERMCO has been named Specialty Contractor of the Year by ENR Midwest. It is certainly an honor for which we can be very proud, especially considering this encompasses not just electrical and systems but all specialty trades contractors throughout Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Missouri as well as Iowa, Ohio, Michigan and Minnesota. While a feature article will be published in the September 30th edition of the magazine, it has been officially announced on the ENR Midwest website blogs.

ENR Midwest Names ERMCO Inc. Specialty Contractor of the Year
In recent years, electrical contractor ERMCO Inc. has emerged as the go-to firm for large, complex, high-profile projects in greater Indianapolis, from 2008’s Indianapolis International Airport to 2010’s Carmel Performing Arts Center to a pair of current projects that promise to transform the manner in which health care is delivered in the region.
The first is the Eskanazi Health Hospital in Indianapolis, a $620-million, 1.2-million-sq-ft facility for which ERMCO installed electrical, communications, power, fire alarm and systems pathways. To execute the project, ERMCO made extensive use of Building Information Modeling, and pre-fabricated items such as wire mold raceways for the facility’s labs, data rooms, and pharmacies. The hospital, due to open later this year, is one of the largest such facilities to be constructed in the region in recent memory.
Another is the Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health, also in Indianapolis, for which ERMCO performed electrical and systems work on the build out of the 10-story, 650,000 sq-ft facility. ERMCO was responsible for the entire electrical and low-voltage systems installation, including power distribution, branch power and lighting, nurse calls, P.A. Systems, HVAC controls and the building management system. To complete the project, also due to open this year, the project team employed an integrated project delivery method that involved extensive collaboration among owner, architect, general contractor, building engineers, fabricators and subcontractors throughout the construction process.
This year, the Indianapolis Star named ERMCO as one of central Indiana’s top places to work. Among other programs, employees have access to the ERMCO Institute, which provides training and education in areas such as software support and training and leadership development. A Safety Culture Immersion course involves employees in training aimed at maintaining the firm’s Zero Incident Policy.
ERMCO regularly sponsors and participates in Rebuilding Together Indianapolis, an annual initiative to repair and rehabilitate homes in low-income communities. This year, more than 50 employees also participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 2013, an annual event targeting breast cancer.
ERMCO will be profiled in the Sept. 30 edition of ENR Midwest, which also will feature the magazine’s annual ranking of the region’s Top Specialty Contractors.
